Scalar Dark Matter from Theory Space

75 citations (73 excluding self-citations). The first detailed dark matter calculation for a Little Higgs model, following up on the dark matter candidate identified in the EWSB from Theory Space paper.
The Key Idea
The EWSB from Theory Space paper had identified a stable scalar from the discrete symmetry of the moose construction as a potential dark matter candidate. This paper does the full calculation: thermal relic abundance including all couplings to the gauge and Higgs sectors. The dark matter candidate is an admixture of an SU(2) triplet and an SU(2) singlet scalar, making it a WIMP with distinctive couplings. Two regions of parameter space give the correct relic abundance: a light region around 100 GeV and a heavy region above 500 GeV. The paper established that Little Higgs models could naturally accommodate dark matter without additional model-building, providing a competitor to the neutralino dark matter of supersymmetry.
